This project was about finding our own personal philosophy. Whether it be about religion, time, etc. It was to go deeper into what our lives meant, and how we see our lives and everything else on life. At first, I was aiming towards religion, then after reading Into the Wild, I changed my philosophy and focused it on the norms and expectations of society. My general question was "Society doesn't let people live up to their full potential without being judged/put down". I was inspired to do a project about society because of Chris McCandless. Into the Wild had some really important pieces about society like how they are too materialistic and Chris didn't want to be a part of that. I also have always felt differently about society because of what they expect out of so many woman and men. You need to be tall, skinny, have blonde hair, etc. This project really sparked so much interest in all sorts of topics. It wasn't just the society that caught my attention. It was learning about the religion, and who we are as humans and what our lives mean. I don't know if I found out much about myself in this project, but it is one of my interests. One of . my favorite things about this project was the freedom. We had freedom to choose what we wanted our topic to be (there were so many possibilities), and then we got the freedom to openly express our philosophy to our peers and what we believed in. This project was neat to do, and I'm really glad I got to find out one of my philosophies. After this project, I still think about "who I am" and a lot about religions. I constantly wonder how the Earth was made, and how God was just "there." There are so many of questions that have been left unsolved that I think a lot about daily such as:
Is there an absolute way to attain a happy state of mind?
Does free will exist or is every option predetermined?
Can artificial intelligence be creative?
Is death a new beginning?
Will religion ever become obsolete?
My visual project
Since my philosophy is focused around the "norms" and "expectations" of society, I wanted to do a visual piece of people before and after being complimented. I wanted to share that society doesn't have to determine how someone looks, or how they're supposed to act. Here are a few photos that I liked the most.
My view on society
I wanted to openly express my feelings about society. At first I was going to write a song, but I turned it into a poem talking about a few of the issues of society and if I'll ever be free from their norms.
